Relax and Unwind

Forget about time… Feather Down is intended for anyone who is looking for quality time together far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is no electricity in the Feather Down Tent. Spending quality time together without everyday distractions is what it's all about. Starting the fire or playing a game together, are perfect opportunities to reconnect. Enjoy the ambiance of candlelight and warmth of the wood burning stove for evenings together at Feather Down.

The Featherdown Feeling

Behind thick protective canvas keeping warmth in without shutting the sounds of nature out, turn-of-the-century farmhouse Tent interiors evoke a time when daily life proceeded at nature’s pace. Balancing practicality and feeling, all of our spacious and cosy tents include proper beds and flushing toilets.

Each Feather Down tent is equipped for up to 6 people (maximum 5 adults and 1 child up to 12 years). Your Canvas Frills Lodge will be ready with beds made with soft pillows and warm blankets. Our beds are near the top of the list of positive features according to former guests of Feather Down farms, so you can depend on getting your well-earned rest!

The Canvas Frills Lodge

The Canvas Frills Lodge is our innovation of a luxurious new tent boasting even greater practicality while never compromising on allure—including an en-suite bathroom. With a wooden bathroom interior fully in keeping with the appeal we hope you expect, guests may enjoy an instant hot shower, and in the right style. The breakfast of freshly laid eggs just collected by your children can now follow the shower, entirely in the comfort of your lovely 56m2 living space.

Clay Shoot

Mill Farm Lurgashall operates an Open Clay Shoot on the First Sunday of every month throughout the year.

The shoot started in 1971, a collection tenant farmers and game keepers got together and started a regular monthly clay shoot. The shoot has continued ever since, building on its name and reputation.

In 2009 we took over the shoot with the farm and have added a more varied shoot with a principal that no shoot should be the same as the last. The layout allows for a selection of all targets over a big area therefore reducing queuing at stands. We aim to have a number of shooters ready on stands before the 10am start time with last entries at 12.30. Stands numbers vary during the year and on how the layout has been decided normally between 8 and 10 Stands.  We position manual trappers in each key area that can communicate to a person who keeps the shoot running smoothly.

We expect all shooters to aware of the safety of others whilst at a shoot whether they are fellow sportsmen or members of the general public. We ask all shooters to be covered by their own insurance. Ear protection, eye protection and ideally a hat or similar to prevent fragments of broken clays causing injury. Dress appropriately as conditions may change during the shootWe are licensed with the West Sussex Police who provide us with an Artificial Target Permit per year. We are Trade members of BASC.

Please use fibre wads only as the plastic wads do not break down and can potentially cause our sheep to choke. Cartridges are available to purchase in 410, 28, 20 and 12 gauge. Licence must be produced if purchasing cartridges.  All cartridges are recycled through Agricycle where they are converted into garden furniture, plastic decking etc.

We provide our own pork sausages, bacon or pork and apple sauce in a roll along with tea and coffee or cold drinks.
